‘Olden’ marks the return of one of 16 Horsepower’s most important early works – released for the first time as a limited, handnumbered Edition on Oxblood red vinyl. The collection brings together the band’s first two studio sessions from 1993–94 and showcases them at their rawest and most intense. Classics such as ‘American Wheeze’, ‘South Pennsylvania Waltz’ and ‘I Seen What I Saw’ appear here in their original, untamed versions and are complemented by rare, previously unreleased recordings. Added to this are live recordings from the Mercury Café in Denver, which document the band’s hypnotic stage presence in their early days. To coincide with the re-release, 16 Horsepower are returning in 2026 for the first time in over 20 years with their original line-up (Edwards, Tola, Humbert and Chuck French) for a major European tour. Olden is thus not only an essential document of the birth of the “Denver Sound” – but also a seminal work for a new generation of listeners.
